Whether on Instagram or at a Hollywood party, everywhere you look these days you see hair with lots of volume and gorgeous waves. Well-styled hair is a must-have this winter! But don't worry: a blowout only sounds complicated – it's actually ideal for women with little time. Once your hair is properly styled, the glamorous look will last for several days.
Here, Jonathan Andrew from FUDGE reveals his best tips for that "fresh-from-the-hairdresser" feeling with mega volume.
1. Make sure you use the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. Avoid products that weigh your hair down; instead, choose products that add volume and moisture. It's best to skip the hair mask on this day, as the heavier the product, the harder it will be to style a blowout.
2. To start, apply a volumizing mousse, such as our Fudge Professional Xpander Foam (approx. €14), which gives dull strands more bounce without weighing them down. It's ideal for limp, thin strands, as the formula provides strong hold and gives hair real bounce.
3. Next, blow-dry your hair in sections using a round brush, paying particular attention to the roots. Place the brush directly under a section of hair at the roots while you use a hairdryer to dry the hair thoroughly and slowly from above. Once you reach the ends, gently twist the brush inwards or outwards, depending on your preference. Repeat this step with all sections of hair to create voluminous waves.
4. Once your hair is dry, roll it onto Velcro rollers. As you roll, pull the sections of hair straight upwards to maximize lift at the roots. Spray your hair with hairspray (e.g., Fudge Skyscraper, approx. €10) for a flexible hold. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes (longer if possible) and then remove the rollers for a voluminous, full look.
5. If you have very fine hair, you should also use some dry shampoo. However, only spray this upside down onto the roots and blow out any excess with a hairdryer.
6. To ensure your hair retains its beautiful shine despite all the styling products, treat the lengths and ends with a serum. Make sure it's a very lightweight product. I use the Aqua Shine Serum from Fudge (around €15). Because it's formulated with WEATHER-SHIELD™ technology, it also provides excellent protection against humidity. This prevents frizz, and your hairstyle won't fall flat as quickly, even in high humidity.
